I have over 17 years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and children, and am nationally certified as a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
From 2015-present I have been doing locums tenens, as a traveling nurse practitioner, in multiple states. I also maintained a part-time telemedicine practice. My clientele range from ages 5 to 85 and most are indigent, dual-diagnosis, trauma victims. I work in residential treatment centers, in hospitals on consult teams, and in lockdown acute care psychiatric units. I also work in IOP/PHP programs and with ACTT/PACT teams.
From 2013-2015 I worked with children and adolescents in outpatient community mental health clinics, on an inpatient acute care unit, and as the head of an intensive-in-home child and adolescent treatment team.
From 2011-2103 I worked in Integrated Health Care, (the new medical home concept under the ACA) educating primary-care providers, providing on-call consultation, and treating chronically medically ill, indigent patients ages 4-75, with chemical dependency, neuro-endocrine, and trauma/abuse issues.
From 2008-2010 I treated children and young adults at community mental health clinics who were trauma/abuse victims, dual-diagnosis, and often substance exposed in utero.
Also in 2010, I trained in Addictions Medicine, treating adults, including active-duty military, on inpatient units, and in an IOP/PHP program.
From 2006-2008 I was a staff at an acute care psychiatric facility where I was the attending clinician on the youth unit, supervising the staff, carrying a full patient load, and covering all daytime admissions and emergency room transfers for the facility. I helped instruct medical students, residents, and fellows, collaborating with them daily.
Additionally, from 2006-2007, I maintained a consult and liaison psychiatric service, treating medical patients on all floors of the two largest general hospitals in Tucson, AZ.
From 12/2008-01/2010 I ran a rural psychiatric clinic on the Arizona/Mexico border, treating all the local children and supervising the social work staff.
I have extensive experience testifying in court and performing court-ordered psychiatric evaluations. I have always closely collaborated with CPS, trauma-focused therapists, & legal experts to evaluate trauma and abuse victims. Working with the PTSD population has been a strong focus of mine.
My BSN was a traveling program, focused on rural, underserved communities, mainly the Native tribes of Arizona. My MSN was focused on treating rural Appalachian communities in Tennessee. I maintain an interest in working with these groups, as well as other minority and underserved populations.
Thank you for your time and interest. I look forward to hearing from you.
